Library wifi troubleshooting procedure


If a patron device cannot connect to the libraries wifi, follow these steps.


1. If the network shows up in the devices' wifi settings, remove (forget) the network: ​

Remove (forget) a wifi network on iPhone or iPad


Re-add the network and follow the onscreen prompts and click the ‘Continue to the internet’ button on the splash page.


2. If the libraries wifi network does not show up in the devices wifi settings,

or the splash page cannot be accessed:

Remove the network if it shows up in the devices wifi settings,

Then reboot the device.


3. Once the device restarts, add the wifi network and follow the onscreen prompts and click the ‘Continue to the internet’ button on the splash page.



Notes:


It may be necessary to perform  the remove, reboot and connect procedure more than once.


For devices without a browser (older Kindles etc.) or older devices that may not have compliant browsers (older iPads etc.) it may be necessary to contact Mid-York’s IT department to have them manually bypass the splash page for the particular device so that it can access the internet. This only needs to be done once for the device in question.
